I’ve done somewhere around 150 Scented Vinyl session, with musicians from around the country. I’ve
done two sessions with Des Moines band Electric Junction, and two sessions without a beard. This was one
of them; EJ lead singer/songwriter Brian Waller made his third trip to the show and his first as a solo
musician.
Although most of the band was in the audience cheering him on, and even came on stage to provide some
backing vocals on a song. Electric Junction has been together for six years, but recently the performances
have been few and far between. Brian however has been busy as can be, preparing songs for a new solo ep
and playing live as often as he can.
Brian and I are into a lot of the same bands, the most recent of which is the Monsters of Folk. We both
brought it in and were going to surprise each other with the album, it was pretty funny. The rest of the music
all seemed to complement each other, he brought in Bon Iver, I brought in Megafaun. Brian brought in
Tommy Bolin; I brought in William Elliott Whitmore. Here is what we played…
Monsters of Folk – S/T
Megafaun – Gather, Form & Fly
Bon Iver – For Emma
Brett Dennen – Hope for the Hopeless
Tommy Bolin – Private Eyes
William Elliott Whitmore – Song of the Blackbird
Mountain Goats – This Life of the World to Come
Broken Social Scene – You Forgot it in People
