Christopher the Conquered
Interview / Songs
I’ve had some memorable session doing this show for the past three years, but one that has always stuck
out was the Christmas show with Christopher the Conquered
two years ago.   I’ll never forget Chris playing
his accordion while passing out candy canes around the café, singing Christmas songs.  I was excited to
have him back on for Halloween since it’s my favorite Holiday; although we decided to keep it simple this
time with a couple of mini pumpkins and a Jack-o-lantern.

Chris has the ability to turn heads in a room while he’s playing, usually because he’s in the audience, but
also because his music kicks ass.  Christopher the Conquered, now the band, just released their second
album “Your Gonna Glow in the Dark”.  The album is fantastic, and the songs really come to life when
played live.  We talk all about the new album and the new band during the interview…

This was Chris’s forth trip to Scented Vinyl, his second in two weeks.  One thing I’ve learned to count on
whenever Christopher is on the show is the music is going to be great.  We both share a love for the
Mountain Goats and the Poison Control Center, so their usually guarantee. From there it seems like we are
always showing each other something different that we’ve been listening too.  Here is what we played...

Dirty Three – Cinder
Old Scratch Revival Singers – Oh, Didn’t He Ramble
Nilsson Sings Newman
Harry Nilsson – Son of Schmilsson
John Vanderslice – Pixel Revolt
Randy Newman – Sail Away
Sufjan Stevens – Seven Swans
Mountain Goats w/ Kaki King – Black Pear Tree
Mountain Goats w/  John Vanderslice – Moon Colony Bloodbath
Silver Jews – American Water
Randy Newman – Trouble in Paradise
Randy Newman – Good Ol Boys
Bob Dylan – Self Portrait
