Each Monday I look forward to a few things, hearing new records meeting new people and have a good beer, so when my special guests Keno offered to grab me one, I never thought they would come back with 5 High Lifes. Usually bands take advantage of the free drinks with something other than the Champaign, but not Keno, last night they were there to celebrate…what I don’t know.
We did eventually even things out with a Guinness and a great night of music. The thing with these summer sessions is it stays brighter inside so much longer, completely changing the feel of the café. So we had to play some nice upbeat music for people to type too; we did a pretty good job until I decided to through on some Nick Cave (sometimes even your all-time favorite needs the right setting). Here is what we played…
Silversun Pickups – Carnivas Say Anything – Is a Real Boy White Stripes – Elephant William Elliott Whitmore – Keep the Fuzz Off My Buzz Bloc Party – Silent Alarm Manchester Orchestra – Mean Everything to Nothing Wolf Parade – EP Police – Synchronicity Jimmy Eat World – Clarity Ben Kweller – Changing Horses Weezer – Make Believe Nick Cave – The Good Son
Keno has been playing around Iowa for just about a year now, and are getting ready to go out on their first tour. Over the year they have recorded and released they’re debut EP “The Sky is Alive in This Cold City”, and are ready for some time out of school doing what they love. Download the interview to find out more, plus the two acoustic songs we recorded at Sonic Factory. It was their first time ever playing acoustic.
