I spent the weekend in Minnesota seeing the Yeah YeahYeahs and visiting record stores with my brother, so I was not looking forward to jumping back into things on this Monday. Luckily the only work in front of me was listening too and talking music with some new friends. I bet my guest Matthew Clay felt the same way, as he spent a tiring Sunday with 15,000 people at Lazerfest.
The rain throughout the day really made for a gloomy night, which happens to be perfect for the atmosphere in a coffee shop. I only had one new album to contribute because Matthew brought the rest, a collection of albums from when he was young. Most of them hadn’t been played in a long time, but I think by the end of the night Matthew and his wife were ready to go out and buy a record player. Here is what we played…
Yeah YeahYeahs – Rumors The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper The Beatles – Meet The Beatles Queen – Jazz Queen – Day at the Races Peter Gabriel – So Prince – Purple Rain Prince – Around the World in a Day
Matthew Clay just released an album, “Epic Twist”, his forth album in eight years, but the first to come with a comic book. Epic Twist is a concept album in the form of a modern pop opera, released on Clay’s own Freakin Records label. We talked all about the album and the story during the interview; we also get a peek at the main character, the Pizza Delivery Guy.
