Parker was one of my first guests on Scented Vinyl, and since then the show has evolved, and Radio Moscow is
better/tighter than ever with two albums to their name. The only thing that hasn't been touched is our hair, now
totally near 6', I estimate.
We met on a rainy Saturday afternoon to record this special session, two weeks before the release of Radio
Moscow’s sophomore album “Brain Cycles”, and a full 24 hours before they embarked on their current two
month tour of Europe. We talk all about the album, SXSW, the tour and more during the interview…
As usual, Parker wasn’t too talkative during the interview; that’s one thing I’ve always liked about this band.
The music speaks for itself; the only answer to where these songs come from is staying up late playing
psychedelic music with friends. Still, Radio Moscow has only begun to explore the true potential of where those
jams can lead. Just listen to “No Good Woman” off the new album, he played it on bongos in the studio version
you can download here. Of course after the interview, Parker explained to me that these longer more
experimental songs are ones they are looking to do more of.
“Brain Cycles” was one of my most anticipated albums of this year. It’s been fun to watch these songs develop
live on stage, and I was pumped to hear what would happen in the studio. Recorded over a week last fall with
Matt Sepanic at Sound Farm Studios, the album saw some spiritual advice from Brandon Darner and Micha
Natera both of The Envy Corps, (at least according to the credits).
Make sure to grab the three songs we recorded at Sonic Factory, all three are live. Two of the songs are from
the album, plus we have one bonus track; a brand new untitled song.
