She Swings She Sways
She Swings She Sways have driven some serious miles over the past two years.  In a van that for some reason
reminds me of a beat up version of the Allman Brothers “Eat A Peach”; the band stays true to the music they play
and have a great time doing it.

They made the trip from Ottumwa with a stack of records, some of which I was a bit jealous of (The Rolling Stones
“Baggers Banquet”).  We set up and recorded a couple of quick live songs at Sonic Factory Studios, then booked it
over to Mars to start in on the music.  My only regret of the evening was that I forgot to bring up my New Kids On
The Block album; due to the recent reunion, I saw this as the only appropriate time to play the thing, John agreed.

Here is some of what we played…

The Shins – Shoots To Narrow
I’m Not There OST – Jim James “Going To Acapulco”
Don Ellis – Live @ the Fillmore
Talking Heads – Remain In Light
John Denver – Farewell Andromeda
Billy Joel – Glass Houses
U2 – The Joshua Tree
Wolf Parade – EP
Andrew Bird – Armchair Apocrypha

She Swings She Sways put out their debut self-titled EP in 2006; recorded and released on their own, the band
perfectly blends Americana, Folk and Pop music on this first release.  The exciting thing about seeing them play
live is the growth you can see since the release of that material.  Although the older songs stand strong amongst
the new ones, I can’t help but look forward to their upcoming full length.

Before they release that album “Wasted Love Songs”, there is one more project to get out to their fans.  A concept
album in which each member of the band wrote a sad song with the intent of releasing the EP for free online on
Valentine’s Day.  The result is Six Sad Songs, coming out on February 14th, with a show to celebrate the next day
at Shooters Hideaway in Des Moines.

Find out all about the band including where the some-what hard to say name came from by downloading the
interview now, also make sure to grab the two songs we recorded at Sonic Factory Studios, one of which you will
only find here.  More information is of course on
