Scented Vinyl finally reached the West Coast with this session; my guests So Many Wizards made a stop in Des Moines Monday night as part night at the Vaudeville Mews.
Nima, Vince and Yohann had never been to the Midwest before this week, and I’ve never been near their hometown of Long Beach, so there was plenty to talk about. The band did just recently sign with Omaha label I’m Drinking This, for the tape release of their Tree EP. The label has many Iowa connections, so hopefully we’ll be seeing more of So Many Wizards. Just seeing the acoustic set last night got me pumped for the whole show this weekend.
Download the interview to find out more about the band, and grab the songs to! There is one off the album, and a brand new tune. After listening to the EP and seeing them live, I’ve decided they are (and I never make comparisons), are like a Clap Your Hands Say Yeah from California. So where CYHSY sound like a poppy stroll through Central Park; So Many Wizards are like one down the beach…maybe that doesn’t make since. Bottom line, the show was great and I’m getting into the Tree ep, you should too.
They didn’t have any records since they have been on the road, but they did manage to scrounge up a Beatles album in Omaha. Here is what we played…
