The hardest part of choosing the music each week for Scented Vinyl, is not deciding which records to play, but which records to leave out. Such was the case last night; between the four members of Steve Robinson & The Foundation, we estimated they brought in about 37-42 records.
Each week I encourage people from the audience to bring in their vinyl for me to play, it’s a great way to share the records you love. And last night we had the honor of hearing a Johnny Cash album on the original Sun Records…from 1960, it was “Johnny Cash Sings Hank Williams”. Thanks to Brandon for bringing that album in.
The great part of this show was the excitement in playing each record that we did play; all of the records seemed to flow together from one to the next. We had to be careful and take turns, because there was so much music to get to. The highlight for me was Chad’s original copy of The Flaming Lips second album, “Hear It Is”. We also managed to fit in a 7” from The Envy Corps!!
Here is some of what we played…
Metallica – Mater of Puppets Big Boys - No Matter How Long The Line At The Cafeteria, There's Always A Seat Lenny Kravitz – Are You Gonna Go My Way” House of Large Sizes – My Ass-Kicking Life The Envy Corps – Story Problem EP Jane’s Addiction – Nothings Shocking David Bowie – Diamond Dogs Bonnie Prince Billy – Summer in the Southeast Joy Division – Closure Bob Marley & The Wailers – Live
